---The Vision of Escaflowne--- (Tenkuu no Escaflowne)
Hitomi is a 15 year-old with the ability to read tarot cards. When she asks the cards if she will ever find true love, strange things begin to happen. She begins to see the image of young man before until eventually, he becomes real and Hitomi helps him in his conquest to slay a dragon.
Hitomi goes to a planet called Gaea with Van, who turns out to be the prince of a kingdom called Fanelia. Hitomi helps Van, Alain and others in Fanelia to fight against the evil of Lord Folken. Van, who has a love for fighting and the destruction of evil is determined to defeat the evil powers with his impressive mecha, Escaflowne. Hitomi on the other hand, uses her tarot cards and visions to interpret what will eventually happen to Fanelia as a result of this war against Folken.
The Vision of Escaflowne is a wonderful story that explores the truth of fate and destiny, dreams, betrayal, and true love.
Escaflowne is very well animated for it's time and scenes change from dark to light depending on the mood. The mood gets help from the lovely background music and songs. All the characters are very strong and have individual personalities making some of them symbolic to certain virtues of life.
The Vision of Escaflowne is a thought-provoking story that attracts females with shojo animation and males with the mechas and is highly recommended.
