Sniper
Hagiri Kaname
Hagiri is a young man with the power to put his ki into another person's body. He can then attract any projectile to the targets his ki creates on the body. He looks a bit like Kurai from Flame of Recca. He is also an expert motorcyclist.
Seaman
Mitarai Kiyoshi
Mitarai is a lost soul. He was the boy that was picked on endlessly and cruelly in school. He didn't have any friends and his self esteem was shot. He found one person who accepted him. Sensui. Of course you know what a good influence an insane man is. He showed Mitari the worst of humanity and Mitari joined his Jihad. Mitari controlls water, with just a drop of blood he can create a monster of water that cannot be destroyed (it just rebuilds itsself.) He can create larger monsters with more blood. Each monster is in it's own special kekkai, a created alternate universe that cannot be broken by normal means.
Game Master
Amanema Tsukihito
A child, 11 years old. (yeah yeah blood type A etc. you get the idea) He has the ability to make any video game a reality in his territory. Once in his territory you must follow the game rules. If the game you play asks you to continue and when you say no, it shows your grave, in Amanema's territory you will die if you give up at the game.
Gourmet
Makihara Sadao
He is a tall plump man with slitty eyes. (Yes I did mean slitty) who doesn't talk much and likes to eat. His territory is inside his own body. If he eats his opponent he gains their powers. He made the mistake of eating the wrong person ^^;;
Doctor
Kamiya Minoru
Kamiya-sensee was a doctor at a local hospital when he got his powers. He's gone slightly insane with the powers. He enjoys causing pain and suffering. He can create bugs that inject a virus into those in his territory. The virus first makes the person cold, then stops all muscle movement. If the Doctor isn't knocked out or killed, the people infected will die within ten minutes. Kamiya can also use his body as a cutting device finer than a scalpel. He has lost all feeling of pain and thus hurting him doesn't do any good. He can re-attach lost body parts with ease. Kamiya's territory is the 100 cubic meters that the hospital consists of.
Gate Keeper
Itsuki
Itsuki was going to be killed by Sensui but when Sensui asked if he had any last words or requests, he said yes. Sensui wanted to know what they were. "If it's possible, I'd like to live one more day." Sensui of course, wanted to know why. "Because my favorite comedy is ending tommorow and I want to see the last show." he then laughed. Sensui decided not to kill him and Itsuki became his partner. Itsuki was with Sensui when he met the Black Black club. He has supported him even in his insanity. He loved the more feminine personality that sensui has. (The origional personality.)
Itsuki is a demon with the power to open a hole between the Makai and Ningenkai.
He has a shadow demon which he controlls and can trap people inside in another dimension.
He is known as the six armed demon.
Dark Angel
Sensui Shinobu
Sensui was a ReiKai Tantei and has extremely strong ki. He has had no trouble killing deamons even in his early years. (Imagine a five year old disintegrating a demon before it get's near him.) He has very high morals. And spent his teen years as a Tantei. He believed he was being heroic and protecting the Human race. Unfortunately, during one of his quests he stumbled upon the dredge of humanity. The Black Black club. Here he witnessed humanity at it's worst. Humans enjoying killing youkai that had done nothing to harm them. And it was cruel killing. The humans were swimming in yokai blood. Sensui killed every human in the room. And begun to slowly go insane. He accepted six other personalites as his own. And he took up Sakyo's plan. He decided that humanity should end and he was the one who would make it so. Therefore he began opening a hole in the makai. Sensui is in his late twenties. Very tall and lanky. his hair is slicked back a bit like Yuusuke's but closer to his skull. He has a dot on his forhead and I'm not sure what purpouse that it serves.
Rei Shyo Ken ashi waza- A fighting techinique where the figter uses the arms as defense (blocking and diverting attacks) and their legs as offense. This is something that Sensui has mastered. He is so tall that his legs come up to abbout Yuusuke's chest. They are very powerful, more so than one of Yuusuke's punches.
Rei Shyo Koukiyou Wa(spiritual skill methodical blast) - Sensui forms a ball of Ki and kicks it at his opponent much like a soccor ball.
Raizen's Generals
Three of Raizen's S-class generals come to Ningenkai to ask Yuusuke for his assistance. Two aren't named, all have to wear a leech-like animal that reduces their power when they come to the human world.
Hokushin
Hokushin is the leader of these three. He is the shortest of the group. He speaks the most and fights Yuusuke in front of the Kuroko house.
Hokushin, apart from being an S-classed demon, can manipulate his body like silly putty. It makes it very hard to hurt him.
Mukuro
Mukuro first shows up completely covered in bandages and spells. The spells hold back her power the bandages cover her face and hands. She is one of three demon lords that currently rule the Makai. She is VERY strong. She contacts Hiei to get him to join her in the upcoming tournament. Her history is rough much like most makai citizens. She was enslaved as a child and brought up by an abusive obese man with some distasteful hobbies. One thing he did to her left the right side of her face disfigured. She escaped from him and fell into a river floating far away. When she woke up she tried to remove the cuffs on her hands but couldn't manage to. Since her escape she has built up her abilites to what they are today, and still the handcuffs remain on.
Yomi
Yomi was a comrade of Youko Kurama in the past. They raided many demonic castles, together with their thieves guild. Contrary to Youko Kurama's cool and calculating personality, Yomi was brash and hot-headed. He enjoyed the act of killing and had no sense of honor, particularly to his fallen comrades. One night, in one of Yomi's raids, his group was ambushed by a wasp-like demon. The assassin killed all the thieves but Yomi, who was badly wounded. As a result, he was blinded by the assassin's attack. Fortunately for him, he stabbed the demon and he flew away. With his eyes gone, he became helpless and he fell to a near cliff and collapsed. However, he never gave up. He embraced his disability and used it to his advantage. He harnessed his spiritual powers and grew 4 pairs of ears as his "eyes." When he achieved the status of an S-Class demon, he hunted down the assassin and kept him in a locked room, where he was tortured and dismembered him while he was still alive.
Yomi's Servant
A weed-like demon sent by one of Yomi's generals, to possess Kurama's brother. The general felt encroached on by Kurama, and afraid of loosing his position decided to blackmail Kurama.
Raizen
Raizen is the last of the three rulers of the Makai. He refuses to eat human meat unlike Mukuro and because of this he is starving and dying slowly. He is animalistic all the time with a quick temper. He is probably the strongest of the three lords but as he starves, he weakens. He's fast with explosive power.
Enki and Koko
Enki and Koko are married. They are close friends of Raizen. Enki is large and sweet. He isn't terribly intellegent though. Koko has a tendency to get drunk and complain, but she cares a great deal about her friends.
Hina
Hina is the mother of Hiei and Yukina. She is an ice demon. She was overcome with greif when Hiei was taken away from her. She has the same abilities as Yukina and even resembles her quite a bit.
Kameda
Kameda is one of Yomi's servants. An old demon that works well with electronics. He is Yomi's advisor and is very smart, though sometimes he seems fairly sneaky. Yomi seems to enlist people with the same moral ambiguity as himself.
Kiri
Kiri is one of the main generals for Mukuro. Not much of him is seen, like most of the people Mukuro recruits, he is quiet and dangerous.
Kotei
Kotei is one of the participants in the Makai Bujutsukai. She immediately makes friends with Link who immediately falls for her. She enjoys teasing him and running around.
Ruri
Ruri was the ice demon assigned to throw Hiei over the cliff while Hina cried in greif behind her. She was reluctant to throw Hiei over and before doing so, she tucked one of his mother's tear gems into his bindings so that he would have something to remind him that someone cared about him. She is the one he talks to when he comes back to the village.
Shigure
Shigure is a servant of Mukuro, he and Hiei have a past together. Shigure is the demon that implanted the Jagan in Hiei's head. Shigure uses a hoola-hoop type sword which he can throw at an opponent, or hoola-hoop as a defense, he can recall it to himself like a boomerang. It can cut through just about anything. He is also pierced in more places than you can count.
Shura
Shura is the genetically engineered son of Yomi, almost a clone. He was trained by his father, strictly to be strong. He is a little snotty sometimes but he loves his dad and enjoys playing with him.
Tora
Tora is Yomi's second in command when Kurama joins them. He is the one who sends the weed demon to possess Shiichi. He's the typical war general, stiff, grumpy and trigger happy.
Natsume
Natsume and her brother were friends of Raizen, she fights against Chuu who falls madly in love with her. She seems to be more interested in the fight, but she doesn't dissuay Chuu from his affection.
Woman
This is the woman who has no name. She is Yuusuke's ancestor. When Raizen was running from human soldiers, he came to her house and was going to attack her but she was kind to him. They shared an intimate evening and then he left. He vowed never again to eat a human.
The Dr. Ichigaki Team
Dr. Ichigaki
A demon scientist that will do anything to make the perfect soldier. He plots and plans so that he can get what he wants. He's short and ugly with a huge jaw. His only powers are scientific.
En, Ryou and Kai
The three human experiments of Dr. Ichigaki's. In order to save their teacher they sacrifice themselves as guinea pigs for his scientific research. There is never any major distinction on who belongs to each name but I think Kai is the man with a cross scar on his forhead. I'll assign the other two names untill someone corrects me. I'm using the manga but my Japanese isn't perfect. So I'll assign Ryou to the youngest looking one with buck teeth and En to the tall one with a braid. Each has a unique spiritual power weapon.
Kai: Hand Claw His spiritual power forms an invisible clawed fist which he uses to slash at his opponent.
Ryou: Angel Chakram His spiritual power forms rings of energy which he throws like small disks at his opponents.
En: En's spiritual power forms into a long pole-shape which he uses to bash the heck out of his opponents.
Ichigaki's Minions
These two attack Kurama and Hiei trying to kill them before they make it back to the tournament. They don't really have any powers and just basically look like lizard-men. I would assume they were also Ichigaki's experiments but there's no real way to tell. They appear to be able to think and act on their own.
Youkojyuu Gatasubaru
Gatasubaru is Ichigaki's nearly perfect soldier. It looks like a large mecha but is supposedly alive. It's metal skin is unhurtable. It's arms extend at will and with a nearly unlimited range. It only does what Ichigaki and his helpers, tell it to.
The Uraotogi Team
Makintarou
Makintarou only get's about a minute and a half of the screen time, which explains why I couldn't remember him when I first came across him. He's a large, strange looking demon that reminds me a bit of a voodoo doll.
Masakari Ken Makintarou can form his arm into a sharp and dangerous axe.
Kuromomotaro
Kuromomotaro is a tall blond man, in a purple outfit. He is actually based on an old Japanese legend about thousands of Momotaro's. I only know about it because I watched Omishi Magical Theater Risky/Saftey. For some reason they had something to do with peaches which is why I find his weapon so funny.
Uraotogi Yami Item Kibidango (Uraotogi Darkness item) His weapon is a belt of dango's which have little peach symbols on them. XD Every time he crushes one he gains an ability and a defense. Each Kibidango has a specific thing it adds on and each are named in order: Fujyuu Soukou number 1 Maen no Sou, Number 2 Machi no Sou, Number 3, Maken no Sou
Uraurashima
Uraurashima is a small demon who appears to be a fisherman. He fights using a fishing pole, and he psychologically attacks his opponent.
His fishing pole. He can form a kekkai with his fising pole, along with tearing at his opponent with the line and hook.
Uraotogi Yami Item Kiyakutamate Bako (Uraotogi Darkness Item)- Once this box is opened, a mysterious gas escapes. Anyone who inhales the gas has their personal time reversed untill they are a child, or more depending on how much gas is breathed in.
Shishiwakamaru
Shishiwakamaru is an old fashioned Samauri. He even speaks using long dead japanese. It makes it a nightmare to translate what he's saying. He has violet eyes, blue hair and a really freaky sword. He also has his own personal fan club. The teenybopper demons come to cheer him on and swoon at his utter cuteness. Of course when he get's ticked off his eyes dialate and become small, he grows fangs and he grows horns, slipping ever so slightly back into his demon form. His demon form is a small bird-like creature with horns.
Old fashioned kendo. He fights in the ways of the samauri when he's calm and doesn't have a difficult opponent.
Uraotogi Yami Item Kiyakutamate Bako (Uraotogi Darkness Item)- Once this box is opened, a mysterious gas escapes. Anyone who inhales the gas has their personal time reversed untill they are a child, or more depending on how much gas is breathed in.
Shide no Hagoromo Cloak of death. Shishiwakamaru wields a filmy cloth that sends anyone who touches it to ... somewhere else. He doesn't really care where.
Makokumeizanken The Wailing Vorpal Sword. Shishiwakamaru pulls the hilt and blade of his sword apart and reveals a pulsating mass of fleshy ickyness attached to the inside. Using this he can transfer his ki in attacks. When he twirls it over his head it lets out a high pitched shreiking wail like a Banshee that makes anyone who hears it feel like their head is going to explode.
Bakutodokushokusou Belching Skull death attack. Shishiwakamaru's sword can spit out giant skulls from it's orifices, and from other places. These skulls attack randomly, killing anything in their path, often biting off bystander's heads.
Onkoshou Bakuheki Evil binding wall. When Shishiwakamaru shoves his sword into the ground, he can channel his ki forming a wall of energy that traps his opponent making them an easy target.
Onjii, The Beautiful Suzuki (Utskushii Matouka Suzuki)
Suzuki first appears as an old man, literally calling himself old man (Onjii), to trick his opponents. Later he reveals himself only now he is dressed as a clown and calls himself, The Beautiful Suzuki. Be careful to keep that beautiful on there or he get's ticked off ^.~ He's not bad looking without all the goofy makeup and clothes on. A rather nice fellow and good friend of Shishiwakamaru. He tends to keep Shishi in check seeing as the blue haired bird bishounen tends to have a flaring temper.
He can throw ki balls.
Rainbow Cyclone This is a colorful attack that truly has the effect of being struck by a cyclone.
He can also power up a bit, strenghtening himself.
The Toguro Team
The Toguro brothers are joined by two other teammates with immense powers.
Karasu
The bishounen of the Toguro team. He wears a mask over his nose and mouth and has a little fetish for destroying things he likes. I believe we would call him a sadist. He enjoys inflicting pain all too much. Karasu wears a mask to hinder his demonic abilites. When the mask is removed he becomes ten times more dangerous.
Karasu controls bombs (when I get time I will list off the Japanese names for the ones he uses in the Anime.)
He has speed that compares to (and beats) Kurama's.
Bui
he is the second member of the Toguro team. He is dressed in loads of armor and you can't see his face. He doesn't talk much either. Bui's armor holds back his profound strenght and Ki.
He carries a large (I mean HUGE) ax which he swings as though it's a twig. He is very very strong.
You Ki. Bui can fight much like Yuusuke with you ki. He throws it in large balls. He has the ability to throw Hiei's Koku Ryuu Ha back at him.
Sakyo
first appeared during the Yukina series in the Black Black Club. He has apparently hired the Toguro brothers to help him make enough money to create a hole between the Human and the Demon Worlds, so the Human world will become more interesting. ::mutters something about psychopath:: Apparently Sakyo grew up in a totally normal family, but he was the warped kind of kid that enjoys picking wings off flies, dissecting kitty cats and breaking puppies legs. And I can tell you, folks, attitudes like that don't improve with age. Sakyo is more like spoiled milk than fine wine. ^^;; Sakyo is the owner of the Toguro Team.
Yuu Kaito
Kaito goes to Kurama's school and would be top in the class if Kurama wasn't also a student there. He is bitter about Kurama's ease in his studies, and eager to challenge him.
Taboo Kaito can choose any word or syllable and make it taboo in his territory. If someone, including him, says the word, they turn into a statue and Kaito keeps their soul.
Yanagisawa Mitsunari
Yanagisawa is tall with spikey purple hair. He enjoys teasing Kuwabara but really doesn't talk much.
Copy Yanagisawa can make himself into an exact copy of any person by touching them. He gains their physical features and their memories. He also gains their powers. To change him back if he doesn't want to be changed back, he must be hurt in some way.
Asato Kido
He is the tall blond punk that challenges Yuusuke after the Ankoku Bujutsukai. He takes quite a beating but get's the better of Yuusuke despite that. In this arc, humans gain power as the gate to the demon world begins opening. Each has their own territory, and sizes of territory depend on the person who controlls it.
Shadow Asato can shadow step. When you get in his territory, he can stop you completely by simply stepping on your shadow.
He can manipulate his shadow to do what he needs it to do, including write with spilled liquids.
The Gorenjya Team
Midorenjya
A memeber of the Gorenjya team. He's green. That should help you figure out which one he is. ^^;;
He creats balls of erosion which he weilds at his opponent. Apparently they don't smell great either.
He can also create gusts of wind.
Kirenjya
Kirenjya is a cyclops. He is the second member of the Gorenjya team and faces Bui in their match against the Toguro team.
His weapon is a large sword he calls a Steel Iron Rock Sword. I assume that means it's pretty darn tough. ^.^ Kirenjya can swing this sword very quickly even though it is so large.
Aorenjya, Akarenjya and Momorenjya
A woman and two men, note they're named after the color of their clothes. Momoi = pink, akai = red, aoi= blue. As you can see, Akarenjya's clothes are a tad discolored in the picture.
San Jyuu Satsu sou- a combined attack, all three use their powers at once. They move with extreme speed.
The Mashyoutsukai Team
Kekkai Master Ruka
Ruka is the only female on the Mashyoutsuka Team. She appears as a Nurse, and traps Hiei and Fukuman in her barrier.
She does Kekkais in general. A kekkai is a barrier of Ki, that cuts off one space from another. Nearly impossible to break out of, usually one has to kill the person holding the kekkai to get out if they refuse to release it themselves.
Soku Sejo - A binding kekkai, she places around her enemy. If the enemy is weak it makes movement nearly impossible.
Keshyotsukai Gama (Paint master)
Gama is a gangly pale demon who has mastered the demonic use of paint to cast spells on his opponent.
Sentou no Shyou - basically powering up by painting spells onto his own body.
Shi no Keshyou - binding spells, when painted on a leg/ankle, it renders that limb useless.
Goku jyou no Shyou - second part of Shi no Keshyou. Painting on the arms or wrists that renders the arms usless. (like putting 280 kg weights on the reciever)
Nenboku Fuujyou no Shyou - final step, painting the torso and body, trapping the opponent's ki inside their own body so it cannot be used to fight.
Ice Master Touya
the diminutive blue haired ninja demon. He has chunks of green bangs that hang forward while the rest of his blue hair is slicked back. He wears ninja-like clothes with baggy pants. Really pale blue eyes without pupils. (his eyes look glassy, it's so cool!) He is apparently the most skilled Ice Demon in existance. His clan passes their skills on when they die so the skills keep improving over time.
Mateki Sandan Shya - Ice whistle (I think) He blows darts of ice at his opponent, it's very graceful and beautiful, a wonderful offensive attack from a distance.
Ice sword- I can't find the japanese name for it but it's a sword he creates on his own arm, made of ice.
Bakuken
The unbelievably ugly man, with scarred skin that fights with sweat. Eeeew... Anway, Bakuken doesn't seem to have a moral conciense and it doesn't help that he's not a great fighter. He'll be happy to beat the snot out of a helpless opponent no matter who they are. He's not very smart either ^^;;
Um sweat balls. That's about it. He's really stupid too ^.^
Wind Master Jin
The totally kawaii fanged red head that looks like he should be fourteen with muscles like a bodybuilder. He get's excited and his ears get pointy, and they wiggle. He's really good natured, but don't screw with him he is very very strong.
Shyura Senpuu Ken - Tornado fist. He creates a tornado on his arm and his punch basically powers up exponentially.
Poku Fuu Shyou Heki - Tornado barrier. He creates a barrier of wind around himself and redirects the attack.
Double armed Shyura Senpuu Ken.
Earth Master Reishyo
the leader of this group, he doens't mind winning dishonestly. He's about Yusuke's height with brown hair that's chin-length.
Earth Armor - he makes armor out of soil.
Youkai Team (Six Demons)
Rinku / Link
The smallest member of his team. He has three stars tattooed under his left eye. He enjoys a good fight, and is very playful. Not to be underestimated, however.
Devil Yo-Yo - Eight small yo-yo's that Link keeps in a pouch on his belt. He holds them between his fingers when he is preparing to throw them. By injecting his ki into the yo-yo's, they can move at Link's will. He can use all eight at the same time, if he so chooses. The ki in them is destructive, and can cut through cement. It acts like electricity when hit hits the opponent.
He does basic yo-yo tricks (ie: walk the dog, around the world etc.) along with all the fancy snake-like moves.
Link can also use the yo-yo's to raise an opponent into the air and swing them about at his desire.
He also has a minor regeneration ability.
Roto
He has greyish green skin and slitted eyes. The obnoxious member of the Roku Youkai team.
He can form a kamaitatchi (cutting device similiar to a scythe but the blade is on the outside of the curve) on his right hand.
Less of an ability than a trick. Roto has the forthought to find Kurama's weakness and exploit it. He threatens Shuiichi's mother with physical harm if Kurama doesn't let him do as he pleases.
Zeru / Zell
Zeru has firey yellow hair that spikes up, it is shorter than Hiei's. He is fairly calm and appears to be the leader of the Roku Youkai.
Zeru is also a fire controller. He would be a good match with Hiei if he could control makai flames.
He can surround himself in ningenkai flames and send it in large bursts.
He can punch using the flames as a strength enhancer, engulfing the opponent in flames.
Imajin and Gaou
Imajin and Gaou are the two remaining members of the Rokuyoukai team. Imajin is the long, brown haired, demon with Enishi sunglasses who looks rather like a hippie. Gaou is the largest member of the team, he has darker skin and a flat nose. We never get to see either of these two fight because, both of them ran after Roto gets his butt kicked by Kurama.
Chuu
The real leader of the Roku Youkai. He has a blue mowhak with two ponytails at the base of his neck. He wears a gawdy outfit that looks like a vest lined with fur of some sort. And leg warmers made of the same material. He is a very large man who reeks of alchohol and when he speaks, uses a lot of english phrases. (IE: Hari apu, bataru mania, chyansu, say them out loud and you can hear what he sounds like ^.^)
Concentration of Destructive waves- Chuu's techinque, suiken no waza, is like drunken boxing. The more he drinks the more dangerous he becomes.
He moves very quickly and has excellent controll of his body.
Makai no Jyunoushyu Onigoroshi- A demonic drink 'The power of Demons' supposedly the strongest alcohol in the makai.
Renkinyou jutsu - Chuu creates a ball of ki in his hands much like Yuusuke's reigun. He throws his ki-ball at the opponent like a baseball.
Knife Edge Death Match - Chuu's decision on how to battel with yuusuke. He places two knives in the ground about a meter apart. Each opponent takes off his shoes and places one foot directly in front of the blade of the knife. If either moves back at all, their food will be impaled on the blade of the knife, thus limiting the fighting range. It is simply a battle of blows untill one opponent is knocked out or killed.
Headbutt - Exactly what it says. ^^;; He's got a dang hard head, but apparently Yusuke's is even harder. Ouch.
Gonda
Gonda is a Black Black Club (BBC) Member and owner of the Roku Youkai (six youkai) team.
Genbu
Genbu is first of the four sacred beasts. Kurama fights him very gracefully. The scary thing about Genbu is that he is entirely made of rock and can move freely through the rock walls, floor and ceiling of his room attacking randomly. He can also break apart his body and put it back together so no matter how many times he is broken apart he isn't killed.
Byakko
Byakko is the second and toughest of the four sacred beasts. He fights with Kuwabara. He looks like a large tiger w/ sabre teeth. He's got a bad attitude and is very grumpy. His techniques are:
Monster Beasts - He can create small level monster beasts with just one of his hairs. They're pretty tough to kill too.
Kiyodai ka He absorbs Kuwabara's Rei Ken, using the energy as food.
Mei Ko Shou Kai Ha - known as the Roaring Tiger Destruction Wave. This attack changes things that touch the wave to dust. A roar of ultra vibration, resulting in molecular destruction. Even Hiei marvels at this attack.
Seriyuu
Seriyuu is the third sacred beast, he looks almost human but has a reptilian look at the same time. I think he's probably part dragon since legendary Seriyuu is the chinese god of dragons. He fights with Hiei wich is good because he's dang fast and Hiei is the only one with a chance against him. His technique is:
Ma Tou Tou Ryuu Ken Which is Evil Dragon Freezing Fist. This technique is simply put, rapidly punching with almost absolute zero degree freezing fists as fast as possible. So he freezes his opponent then cracks them apart.
Suzaku
The final, and leader, of the sacred beasts. Suzaku looks most human of all the other beasts. He's kinda cute. He is kind of buggy though I think, his red front bangs appear to be feelers wich is kinda freaky. He fights with Yusuke. In Chinese mythology, Suzaku is the phoenix god. Suzaku's techniques include:
Created Humans Their shape is like a human's but they don't have any intellegence or thoughts of their own. They are beasts absolutely obedient to the orders of the being who laid the spell on them. The look like swamp monsters. ^^;;
Ankoku Raijin Ken - Black Thunderbolt Attack. A martial art which creates dark energy called You Rai Ha(evil thunder wave) It has the power to burn an ordinary person to charcoal in a flash.
Yami Oogi Ankoku-You-Rou-Jin Black Evil Encircle Formation. Suzaku creates six more of himself in order to fight. Each has the same power as the origional and if you don't kill all six, he can revive and use their power to heal himself.
Shichi Goku Ankoku-Rai-Kou-Ha Seven Hell Black Lightening Wave, basically the Ankoku Raijin Ken, using a bow made of maiki to shoot the power, all seven Suzakus shoot at the same time.
Murugu
Suzaku's annoying bird friend. I kinda wish Yusuke had fried her and served her to some poor children back on earth. ^^;;
Koumori Tsukai / The Bat Tamer
Appears in the episode where Genkai is trying to find an apprentice to pass down her Rei Handou. He is very quick but no challenge to Yuusuke after his fight w/ Hiei. He dosn't really attack or anything. Quite disappointing but it was amusing to watch Yusuke take out some of his anger on him.
Kibano
Is the green haired man who fought Yuusuke in Genkai's dark arena. He uses a mask to block out any sensory reception so he can focus on finding an opponent's Ki signatures.
Zantou Senpuu Geki A throw that whirls the opponent while they fly through the air.
Kazemaru
Is a ninja that serves as a personal bodyguard to a VIP. He fights Kuwabara in the Finals of Genkai's apprentice tests. He uses his Rei Ki emitted from his palm in a sort of a cannon effect. He also uses exploding throwing knives.
Shourin / Shoulin
Claims to be a wandering shoulin master, he remains an enigma for the greater part of the tournament. Later we discover he is not quite what he seems.
As Shoulin he uses the Shoulin-ka-shou-happa-ken which are fireballs, these he forms in his hand and throws at his opponent.
Also as Shoulin, Zan Kuu Reppuu-jin A trick called Whirlpool Phenomenon of "Weasel's Slash". When a vaccum is formed with the air, the air in the body makes a cut on the skin as if cut by a sickle, in the effort to keep the balance of air pressure inside and outside the body.
Rando
Rando is a demon that specializes in stealing killing techniques and testing them out on humans. Ko-Enma-sama leaves the capturing of Rando up to Yusuke. Rando only has to see a move once in order to emulate it if it's simple enough. He manages to copy Yusuke's Rei Gun which freaks Yuusuke out completely. He's quite sadistic. His techniques:
Rando can make a demonic web which is virtually unbreakable and he quite enjoys tossing Yusuke around with it.
Rei Gun Hasshya Copying Yusuke's Rei Gun, he uses demon power instead of spirit power.
He has a stolen technique invented a long time ago by the famous founder of a confucianist sect and a samauri who spent over half their lives developing it. It can cause an opponent's body to shrink rapidly for the convienence of easy and painful torture which with Rando, usually results in death.
Shizuru Kuwabara
Shizuru is Kuwabara's older sister, yet she looks nothing like him. She beats up her brother whenever he acts or does something stupid. Despite this, she wants Kuwabara to get an education and come home safe from battles so she takes it upon herself to make sure he studies, eats well and stays out of trouble much like a mother would. She's a chain smoker. She has psychic abilities like her brother, and as a result can sense demons. Don't piss her off and don't even think of taking her cigarette from her mouth. She's the sister of Kuwabara Kazuma and has no problem beating the stuffing out of people that irritate her. In the Anime series she has an emotional connection to Sakuyo and the results of the Ankoku Bujutsukai leave her quite shaken.
Atsuko Urameshi
Atsuko is the young(28 years old), single mother of Yusuke Urameshi. She spends days at a time at the bar and has no job. She does, however care a great deal about her son she worries constantly that he will die again, and makes sure he is admitted to school (even bringing gangsters(yakuzo) along to 'reason' with the superintendant.) She is alchoholic and has many problems but she has a good heart.
Jorge Saotome
Jorge is the blue oni that is constantly at KoEnma's beck and call. He puts up with all the abuse KoEnma throws at him and is in the constant state of panic/weeping. He is a commentator for most of the battles throughout the show and even helps Koto out toward the end. He's an excellent groveller. All in all he's just a nice guy that seems not to mind being abused by people around him.
Sayaka
Sayaka in the anime is a spiritual investegator sent by KoEnma to see how Yusuke is doing at growing his egg. It is her job to decide if having him come back to life will really be a good idea. Despite her childish appearence she is very intellegent.
In the manga, Sayaka is a little girl spirit that is very lonely. She lures a little boy into her house and plays with him, but it starts to tax on his living soul and Yusuke and Botan have to settle Sayaka's spirit.
Hinageshi
Hinageshi - Is another Ferry girl that works under Botan. She shows up only in the movie to fight against Yakumo. She wears a traditional shrine maiden outfit (white kimono with red hakama) and seems to look up to Botan as a mentor. Hinageshi acts slightly younger than Botan, and obviously doesn't have as many years experience behind her.
Ayame
Another boatman of the dead, she spends most of her time researching for KoEnma. She is much calmer than both Botan and Hinageshi and seems lethargic much of the time. According to another fan that has read all the way through the manga, KoEnma has a thing for Ayame and Botan cheers him on in his pursuits of her.
Shiori Minamino
This is Kurama's human mother. She begins the show with a very weak heart, and is in the hospital. Later on she marries a man who has another son with Kurama's same human name. (Yes it's confusing.) She's a very warm and loving woman who would do anything for her son.
Shuiichi Takenaka
This is Kurama's step-brother. He's younger and really looks up to Kurama. The two get along very well. He is later used as a tool to get Kurama's cooperation in the Makai. We all know what happens when you threaten someone Kurama cares about ^^;;
Kuwabara's Gang
These three guys are members of Kuwabara's gang. They all act tough but are really nice guys who enjoy playing videogames and defending their school's honor. Okubo himself, has a part time job and has to take care of his sick mother and his siblings. He's the one you find out the most about. They all care about Kuwabara a great deal just like Kuwabara cares for them.
Principal Takenaka
Is the principal of Saraiashiki Junior High School. He's a kind man who worries about his students and truely wants them to succeed. He makes it his mission to help the troubled students even when they don't want to be helped. He keeps the other teachers in line whenever he catches them doing things to harm the students. He's very fair and just.
Akashi Sensee
Is one of the corrupt teachers of Sarayashiki, he tries to make Okubo loose his part time job by tricking Kuwabara into fighting then making him get a good score on a test. He even erases one of Kuwabara's answers so he'll fail after prodding from Iwamoto.
Iwamoto Sensee
Iwamoto is a big, burly teacher that is out to get Urameshi. He is disgusted by the boys reputation and wants him out of the school. He worries exceedingly about the school's reputation and how students like Urameshi and Kuwabara degenerate it. He never seems to realize he is just as bad as the students he is out to get.
Eikitchi
is Kuwabara's cat, a very cute little ball of fur that is used against Kuwabara at one point. Kuwabara really loves cats and you can see him playing with Ikitchi throughout the series.
The Reikai Special Defense Team
A group of people from Reikai who's job it is to put out any fires that arise in the three worlds, so to speak. When a major problem erupts and the regular lackies can't handle it, these are the strongest of the Reikai who go to try and put an end to the problem.
Kuroko Suto
Is an ex Rei Kai tantei. She is a little like Yuusuke, personality-wise. Obviously she has calmed down with age but she is still an excellent fighter. She used to be short and overweight. In one year she grew a foot and didn't gain any weight, this was the same year she became a spirit detective. She now has two children both with spiritual power and a husband who is completely normal, and writes.
Kuroko
This is Sutou's husband, he is a novelist and a calm man. He has no spiritual powers like his wife or his children do, and the whole spirit thing intrigues him and scares him at the same time. He truly loves his wife and children and seems to enjoy Yusuke's company too.
The Kuroko children
These are the ever exciteable children of the Kuroko household. They inherited their spunk and rei-ki from their mother. They enjoy guarding the house and pretending to be drunk, they get along well with Yusuke.
Urameshi Yusuke
Yusuke is the fifteen year old, self declared, "Super Number 1 Delinquent of Sarayashiki Jr. High School". Yuusuke has a young mother who stays at home a lot drinking. We don't know much about his father until much later in the show. Yusuke spends little time in school and a lot of time fighting. When he dies, he meets Botan and Ko-Enma. Botan explains that Yuusuke wasn't supposed to die, and Ko-Enma offers him a chance to come back to life, called the "Trial of Resurrection".
When Yusuke finally makes it back to life. (With the help of Botan, Keiko and Kuwabara) He has to make up a debt to Ko-Enma. So he becomes a detective for the Spirit World. We find out that Yuusuke has spiritual powers that allow him to shoot ReiKi (spiritual energy) out of his body. Some of his techniques are:
Rei Gun - Like a revolver, shooting one blast of energy at the opponent.
Shotgun - As it says, basically triple the power of the ReiGun and can kill more than one person.
Double Barrel Shotgun - This sends out multiple shots, covering a large area.
A number of Rei Kou Hadou Ken (Spiritual Light Wave Ken) Techniques taught to him by Genkai.
Renshya - double shot, sending one reigun immeddiately after the first.
Rei Kou Dan Clean Hit - Shooting the spirit energy out in an arc rather than as a ball so it covers more ground in the counter attack.
Jyu Rei Jyou Ante - (Luminescent Spirit Ante) This is more of a showing off than an attack. Yusuke let's his Ki go unchecked.
Reigeki Ring - Using the spirit power enhancing ring to create one huge blast of the rei gun.
Kuwabara Kazuma
Kuwabara is also a self declared, "Number 1 Delinquent of Sarayashiki Jr. High School". Of course, it's the same school that Yuusuke attends. ^^;; Kuwabara used to fight with Yuusuke every day. He lost over 156 times in a row to Yuusuke. He is probably the second strongest student of the school. He becomes a part of the group when he goes to speak with Genkai about his ESP. They both compete to learn her Spirit Wave techniques and during the match, Kuwabara meets Botan. He immediately asks her if she will "go out with him on the premise that they will someday marry" which sort of freaks Botan out.
Later on in the contest, Kuwabara learns how to form his Rei power into a sword which he calls Rei Ken (spirit sword). He insists on helping Yuusuke out once he discovers what kind of work Yuusuke has to do for the spirit world. He also, later, falls in love with Yukina, the pretty ice demon who was kidnapped and held hostage boy Toguro and Tarukane.
Kuwabara is loud and rambunctious but a nice guy with a soft spot for a pretty girl, or a kitty. ^.^ Kuwabara's techniques:
Rei Ken he can form a sword using spiritual energy.
Rei Ken Nobiro Spiritual sword extend he can extend the sword
He can connect the sword to its'self
He is very creative
He also has an extremely high level of Rei Kan (ESP)
Using this he can also sense Rei Ki and You (demon or evil) Ki
Tameshi no Ken
Using the hilt Suzuki gave him, Kuwabara can triple his ken's abilities (shaping it as he pleases) and double the power behind it.
Jigen Tou
An upgraded form of the Rei Ken. It is much more powerful than its former version, and can actually slice through dimensional walls.
Suiichi Minamino / Youko Kurama
Kurama is a very old demon fox named Ryouko, with nine tails. He was one of the best known theives of the Maikai (demon world). At one point, he was caught and shot by a hunter and so, severly wounded he came to the human world to be re-born.
When Kurama was re-born in the human world, as Shuiichi Minamino, he learned the meaning of love and compassion from his human mother. He risked his life to save hers at one point. This has earned him Yuusuke's respect. He became a Spirit World Detective and helps Yuusuke with his missions. His human body is 15-18 years old depending on where you are in the show. While his demonic form is over 1000, and even this varies, I haven't reached an explanation in the manga yet but of course I can't read straight Japanese as well as I wish I did. He's pretty old, and I would assume at some point one would loose track of one's own age anyway. Some of his techniques are:
Rose Whip - A whip with thorns that can slice through stone like butter and through steel.
Fuuka Enbu Jin -He can also create a torrent of razor sharp rose petals to rain down around him.
Youko Kurama has perfect control over all Maikai plants (this includes the nasty blood sucking kind)
Shuiichi can control human world plants.
Shimaneki - demon world grass, Kurama can plant the seed on an opponent and it will grow in the unknowing host untill it binds their action. Upon Kurama's request it will bloom, bursting the blood vessels of the opponent, killing them.
Tsukeyaki Blade Kurama turns a blade of grass into a sword.
Katate de Ichigeki (One handed blow) Simple move used against Roto in the Ankoku Bujutsukai.
Hiei
Hiei is a fire demon with a cold demanour. He was born into an ice demon clan as a child, and because they discovered that he was a fire demon, they gave him the boot. Hiei spent much of his time being a youkai delinquent and looking for his lost sister, Yukina the pretty blue-haired, demure, ice demon (see Koorime).
Hiei and Kurama are old friends and both came to the human world after stealing objects from the Spirit World. Kurama stole the mirror of utter dark and Hiei, a sword, "The Ghost Slayer", with a poisious blade that could turn any human into a demonic minion. Hiei had a Jagan (demon eye) implanted on his forhead so this is why he often wears a headband. He is also an expert swordsman.
Some of his techniques are:
Speed - Hiei is quicker than the human eye. It appears that he's phasing but he's simply moving so quickly that you can only catch a residual picture here and there.
Jagan - Hiei's third eye gives him the power to see great distances as well as control people.
Fire - obviously he can do some pretty tricks with fire being a fire demon. Including the following:
The Jaou Ensatsu Rengoku Shou (Swift Demon Purgatory wound -geh, my translation is weird!) is his multiple-hit Ki punch attack Hiei uses, with fire forming around his fists, he proceeds to pummel his opponent rapidly.
The Jaou Ensatsu Ken
- Hiei summons black fire in the form of a sword around his right fist. He dosn't like to use this though, because it looks like Kuwabara's Rei Ken and of course, he thinks that anything relating to Kuwabara is obnoxious and clumsy.
The Jaou Ensatsu Koku Ryu Ha
Is the most powerful of Hiei's attacks. Literally, The Flying Black Dragon Wave of Destruction, The Koku Ryu Ha, when dormant, is a black dragon tattoo on Hiei's right forearm. When he calls on it, it manifests its'self from the same arm as dragon of black fire, that destroys everything in its path.. Only Mukuro, and Bui, were able to stand up against this attack. Because they did so, the Kokuryuhaa came back at Hiei and he was possessed by it.
Genkai
Genkai is an old woman who lives in a dojo in Yuusuke's city. She used to be a Spirit World Tantei but upon the completion of one tournament and the loss of her partner (not death, just loss) she is no longer a Tantei. She passes her amazing techniques down to Yuusuke when he wins her tournament and defeats Rando.
Genkai was very beautiful as a young girl and she is still very spry, she could beat most of the punks that show up in the show. She's very smart but she's also very rough with people.
Some of her techniques are:
Forms of Rei Kou Hadou Ken (Heavenly spiritual strength dicipline) such as the ability to kill an opponent leaving no traces of him.
Rei Handou (Spirit Wave)which can cure spiritual impidements or knock people out.
Rei Kou Kyou Han Shyo - Sending the ki back at it's weilder. She uses this to beat Shishiwakamaru.
Supine Kick Kougeki (Supine Kick Strike) Used on minor demons. More martial art than spirit power attack.
Ko-Enma
Ko-Enma is the Junior; Lord of the Spirit World. When we first meet him, he is in the form of a toddler and he gives Yuusuke an egg as the Test of Resurrection, to see if Yuusuke is worthy of being brought back to life. He is very busy, always stamping papers and worrying over problems in the three worlds. We don't see his father very often, only once or twice such as when a very scared Ko-Enma goes to ask him a favor and later in the Sensui arc in which Botan spends the better part of two episodes in his office.
Ko-Enma also has a Teenage form, which is very bishounen. He uses this when he visits the Makai for the tournament with the Toguro brothers. In his Teenage form, the Jr. imprinted on his toddler hat, is replaced with a Jr. tattoo on his forehead. Obviously symbolizing that he is the Jr. Lord of the Spirit World.
Ko-enma's waza:
The pacifier - Ko-Enma holds and builds his ReiKi up in his pacifier. It's not just for show. Of course, you've never seen cute till you see a sixteen year old boy sucking on a pacifier like nothing is abnormal. ^.^;
Mafuu Kan - Well I finally got to see it! I was basically correct before. All of KoEnma's stored up powers are released from the pacifier. It has the power to seal a demon away permanently (basically kill the demon physically and destroy his soul, when it's effective >< we won't get into that.) Anyway, he doesn't use it in the tournament. The first person he ever uses it on in the series is Sensui. That is all I will say about that one, I know you don't want me to spoil it for you.
Delegation - Ko-Enma is a good delegator. Just look at George (Jorju) the Oni, Botan, and all the Reikai Tantei.
Buka ni Atari Basically this one means bossing people around. He succesfully cows subordinates. ^^;; (Taken from a powerlevel card)
Botan
Botan is from Buddist traditional beliefs, she is the navigator of the Sanza no Kawa (a river in the spirit world). She leads the spirits of dead humans to Enma to be judged before they go on. In western culture, the closest approximation would be the ferryman of the dead in greek mythology. Basically Botan is Death. She isn't the grim kind you always think of, dressed in black and carrying a scythe, typical skeleton. Botan is a cheerful, blue haired spirit girl who rides an oar (don't mix that up with a paddle and don't call her a witch. :P ) and works directly under KoEnma.
Botan has a book that she keeps with her, called The Book of Enma. Enma is the lord of the dead and thus this is like a profile of all the people in the world and when they are supposed to die, how, their whole life, etc.
Botan actually becomes an assistant to the Reikai Tantei and is the bearer of KoEnma's words. She also brings the boys spirit devices to improve their fighting skills. She sometimes, though, forgets how to use some of them. She is slightly bubble brained but I think she's probably very smart. Just also very enthusiastic.
Some of her techniques are:
The Oar - Botan's oar is a creation of her Ki, that she uses to ride from and to the Spirit World. She can also use it to hit people which she does indeed do on occasion.
The Bat - Botan has a metal baseball bat which she fondly likes to use in order to knock out some of the less talented youkai. *ping* Itai...
Spirit World Insecticide - For the use of killing spirit world insects. Basically Spirit World Raid. ^.^
Healing Wave - Botan has the ability to heal using her Rei Ki. Of course this should be used with accompyaning medicine or she drains her own soul of it's energy. It can be used with out medication, however, and still be successful.
Her fist - Though not as effective as Keiko's slap, Botan can throw a mean left hook and apparently it dosn't feel nice.
Yukimura Keiko
Keiko is a childhood friend of Yuusuke's. When we start out the story she is one of the few people willing to stand up to him. They are very close, and it becomes obvious after the first few episodes that the relationship between Keiko and Yusuke is a bit more warm than friendship.
Keiko is responsible for bringing Yuusuke back to life (even though she was almost too late to breath him back to life) She is also close friends with Botan.
Keiko doesn't really have "techniques" per say however:
She has a slap that can knock Yuusuke flat so it must have some serious power behind it.
She has done her fair shair of kicking bad guy butt.
She can scream like the dickens.
She's immensley smart. Top of her class, class president, you get the idea.
Yukina
Yukina is Hiei's twin sister. When Hiei was discharged from the floating city, Yukina was spared. However she has spent much of her life mourning the loss of her brother and looking for him. She has no idea that he is near her all the time. Usually watching over her.
Yukina is sweet tempered and loves animals. She is very kind and easily confused. She doesn't seem to understand Kuwabara's advances toward her, but obviously likes him. During Yukina's search for her brother, she was captured by Tarukane. Tarukane forced her to cry in order to get her teargems. However, it comes to the attention of ReiKai that Tarukane is doing this (and capturing demons just for resale among other things. The Reikai Tantei are dispatched and Hiei finally discovers the wherabouts of his sister.
Yukina is an ice-demon and thusly has powers:
Temperature - She can lower the temperature of the air around her creating a barrier of biting cold, freezing anything in the vicinity.
Healing - Like most fighting Anime's the girls with powers tend to be healers. Yukina has this ability, much like Botan does.
Pearls of Heaven: Her ice powers form a crystal-like cloud and rains darts of sharp ice that doesn't injure but freezes their target. (Thanks to Hiei's friend for this information; this is from the third movie an unofficial release approved by Togashi but not created by him.)
